چکیده

Voice signal contains intrinsic irregularities which become more evident in the presence of pathologies. The acoustic parameters are very useful for the clinical assessment of voice and pathologies detection. Most existing voice models handle irregularities as additive noise and not as information carriers. In this work, a new model is proposed allowing to generate synthesized voices with previously selected acoustical parameters shimmer and jitter. Artificial voices are generated from a glottal source signal, obtained by conveniently disturbing amplitudes and periods, and then filtered using an auto-regressive linear filter. Models were developed for amplitude and period perturbations based on statistical methods. Several signals were generated and the performance of the model was analyzed. The quality of synthesized voices was evaluated using an objective quality measurement. The obtained jitter and shimmer values mostly agreed with the theoretically predicted values. These results suggest that this model is useful for artificial voices generation. Keywords— irregular-voice, voice synthesis model, acoustic parameters, jitter, shimmer.

Acoustic Analysis of Persian EFL Learners' Pronunciation of English Vowels

This paper reports the results of an experimental study on non-native production of English vowels. Two groups of Persian EFL learners varying in language proficiency were tested on their ability to produce the nine plain vowels of American English. Vowel production accuracy was assessed by means of acoustic measurements. Ladefoged and Maddison’s (1996) F1 F2 measurements for American English v...

Visual control of hidden-semi-Markov-model based acoustic speech synthesis

We show how to visually control acoustic speech synthesis by modelling the dependency between visual and acoustic parameters within the Hidden-Semi-Markov-Model (HSMM) based speech synthesis framework. A joint audio-visual model is trained with 3D facial marker trajectories as visual features. Since the dependencies of acoustic features on visual features are only present for certain phones, we...

Interval Type-II Fuzzy H∞ Frequency Control for an Island Microgrid

Frequency control is one of the key parts for the arrangement of the performance of a microgrid (MG) system. Theoretically, model-based controllers may be the ideal control mechanisms; however, they are highly sensitive to model uncertainties and have difficulty with preserving robustness. The presence of serious disturbances, the increasing number of MG, varying voltage supplies of MGs, and bo...

Effect of Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery on the Voice Quality among Patients with Rhinosinus Polyposis

Introduction: Rhinosinus polyposis is associated with voice quality reduction. There has been little evidence about the efficacy of rhinosinus polyps surgery on patients' voice quality so far. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the nasality and acoustic voice changes after rhinosinus polyposis surgery.   Materials and Methods: The population in this study compo...

Acoustic parameters of synthesized German vowels

This report provides data of the automatic acoustic synthesis of basic German vowel phoneme allophones with the use of one channel fonnant synthesizer; analyzed herein are the acoustic parameters of natural German vowels obtained from sonagrammes of sounds produced by a native speaker; provided are the data on formant characteristics of the synthesized vowel sound-types suggestive of their perc...
